ANDREA SALINAS
A Dangerous Record on Crime and Border Security while in the Oregon Legislature

When it comes to keeping our communities safe, Andrea Salinas has failed. She voted to use $15 million of taxpayer funds to provide free legal representation on immigration matters, prioritizing deportation cases for illegal immigrants [14]. Instead of prioritizing the safety and security of our borders, Salinas chose to fund those who broke the law to enter our country. Her support for Oregon’s HB 2002 (2021)[15], which prohibited police from arresting people for crimes like trespassing and theft, has made our neighborhoods more vulnerable. Salinas even voted for Oregon’s SB 1510 (2022)[16], a bill that ties the hands of law enforcement by limiting their ability to make traffic stops, potentially allowing criminals to evade capture.

Undermining Law Enforcement and Public Safety

Salinas has a disturbing record of undermining our law enforcement officers. She voted for HB 3164 (2021)[17] while in the Oregon Legislature, which stripped police of the ability to charge individuals who refuse to obey orders with interfering with an officer. Salinas also supported HB 4097 (2020)[18], preventing police from citing fare evaders, thereby encouraging lawlessness on our public transit systems. Even more shocking, Salinas called to "reimagine law enforcement" and dismantle systems that she claims kill our community members (2021)[19]. With such extreme anti-police views, how can we trust Andrea Salinas to keep us safe?

Salinas’s Tax and Spend Agenda in the Oregon House is Crushing Oregonians

In a time of rising prices, Andrea Salinas’s record on the economy is alarming. She has supported massive gross-receipts taxes on Oregon businesses, including one of the largest tax increase efforts in state history[20]. Salinas even opposed beneficial aspects of the 2017 federal tax reform, voting to disconnect Oregon from tax breaks that would have helped parents benefit from saving money for their children’s education[21]. Salinas’s backing of an Oregon Legislature cap-and-trade scheme (2019)[22] predicted to drive up gas and diesel prices shows just how out of touch she is with the economic realities facing Oregonians today.

Undermining Election Integrity at Every Turn

Andrea Salinas has a troubling record when it comes to election integrity. She voted for HB 3291 (2021)[23], a controversial bill that allows ballots to be counted after election day, opening the door for potential voter fraud. Even worse, Salinas wants to give convicted felons, including those serving time for violent crimes, the right to vote from prison[24][25]. How can we trust someone with such a reckless approach to safeguarding our elections?
